This idiom is used in Amharic to mean that if something applies to you, you should acknowledge it.
Example
"እሱ ውሸት ተናግሯል ተብሎ ተከሰሰ፣ እናም እንዲህ አለ: "ጫማው የሚስማማህ ከሆነ ልበሰው።" (He was accused of lying, and he said: "If the shoe fits, wear it.")"
